PROVINCIAL SUMMER GAMES - ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHILIEU 2009


The 2009 Provincial Summer Games were held in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The host city welcomed close to 600 athletes living with an intellectual disability from July 2nd to July 5th 2009.

Competitions will be held throughout the week on the city’s exceptional facilities which will present the following sports:  rhythmic gymnastics, powerlifting, soccer, softball, track and field, swimming and bowling.

Nearly 600 athletes representing all of the regions of Quebec will be accompanied by 190 coaches, 7 chiefs-of-mission, 13 managers and 12 operations-assistant, totalling 880 participants. An additional 40 officials and 150 volunteers will be required in order to ensure that all aspects of this major event are conducted efficiently.

The athletes selected for the Summer Games will strive for a place in Team Quebec’s training group at the 2010 Special Olympics National Summer Games of London, Ontario.
